Exploring Weldon’s Religious Roots: A Special Evening at Halifax Community College
Mark your calendars for an inspiring evening celebrating the rich religious history of Weldon! On March 20 at 5:30 PM, Halifax Community College will host The Irvin Francis Kyle III Speaker Program, named in memory of our beloved pastor and generously sponsored by his brother, Bernard Francis Kyle.
This special event will shine a spotlight on Weldon’s four historic 19th-century churches and their profound influence on the town’s development. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from a distinguished panel of experts, including:
Rev. Sue Owens & George Joyner – Weldon Methodist Church
Rev. Randy Martin & Nat Vaughan – Weldon Baptist Church
Dr. Stanley Edwards – First Baptist Church
Tom Wellman & Eddie Lee Elks – Grace Episcopal Church
The evening will also feature a thought-provoking discussion led by Dr. Florine Bell on how Weldon’s churches have evolved over time and continue to shape the community today.
In addition to engaging conversations and historical insights, guests will have the chance to meet and greet with fellow attendees while enjoying refreshments.
