WELDON IN ACTION SAFETY COMMITTEE

The Weldon In Action Safety Committee co-ordinates its plans and initiatives with Chief Davis of the Weldon Police Department. Current initiatives involve using NextDoor, a social media platform that allows participants to share information. The Weldon Police Department participates in this program as do a number of Weldon residents. The program permits users to share information anonymously and to communicate directly with the Police Department. The Committee endorses this program and is leading an effort to encourage residents to join. The more participants there are, the better the information available to the Police Department to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents.

Clean streets and neighborhoods are a deterrent to crime. In its second initiative, the Committee hopes to initiate a “clean streets” project in cooperation with the Public Works Department and the Weldon In Action Enhancement and Appearance team. The project will involve enlisting volunteers to clean designated areas in town, enlisting homeowners to become active in maintaining the improved appearance of the neighborhoods.
