“There are several good memories of growing up in Weldon.”

“My most favorite was as a child. I would always enjoy going with my Aunt Mary to Roses 5 & Dime. We lived close, so hand in hand with Auntie, we would walk downtown. As a child, I was always so thrilled at all the cool items they had. I can still vividly remember the layout. Of course, my first stop was the toy section and then the popcorn popper. That popcorn was so delicious. As I grew older, my favorite section was the hotdog counter and the finger polish department. I remember Miss Edna so well. She worked there for years! During Easter, I can remember all of the little colored baby chicks for sale. Yes, I loved growing up in Weldon!
