WELCOME SHERRY DAVIS
WELCOME SHERRY DAVIS
Meet Weldon In Action’s new Events Coordinator. Sherry Davis is already making her presence felt and her expertise helpful in conducting our frequent events. She jumped into the fray during the weekend of our Art and Beyond Show and our Saturday in the Park which accompanied the art show.
Sherry brings broad experience in dealing with people, especially children and the public. She is a teacher assistant and bus driver with the Roanoke Rapids Braded School District. She is a whiz at Google applications, from making instruction interactive for children and, importantly for us, to organizing all aspects of an event, and creating surveys and records of the success of events in the community served.
She has also planned, organized, scheduled, and implemented events for the Chockoyotte Country Club, all the while running the pro shop and conducting fundraisers.
She graduated as a member of the PTK Honor Society at Halifax Community College with an Associate in Arts degree.
“Organizing events is something I love to do,” commented Sherry when explaining that an events organizer has to like dealing with all kinds of people and organizations. She has a reputation for completing whatever she starts, which we observed when we saw her in action.
Speaking of action, Sherry has organized events ranging from birthday parties—not so easy, she says—to fishing tournaments for the Town of Weldon, vacation Bible school for her church, and events sponsored by the Weldon Police Department.
You will see Sherry, often in a bright pink outfit and a smile on her face, at all of our events this summer and fall. Come meet her on June 8 at our next Saturday in the Park. You will also see her at Saturday in the Park on September 14, and at our next Weldon Heritage Speaker on September 19. These events will highlight the aqueduct and its 200-year history with stories, pictures, and what makes it rare and special. We will wind up our series with a Blue Grass Festival in October. And, at a date in the fall to be determined, the Blue and Gold Festival will be hosted by the Weldon High School Class of ’73.
With her bright spirit and ready hello, Sherry will make sure there will be something for everyone at these events: vendors with interesting things to sell, displays of our cultural history, characters in costume, information about activities in town and nearby areas, music, food, and fun things to do.
GIVE A BIG WELCOME TO SHERRY when you meet her and see her helping the Weldon In Action team members creating active, fun days for you and your family this summer and fall.
COME TO THE PARTY!
